Maria Malmer Stenergard takes part in Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels
Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard participated in the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting held in Brussels on 20 November 2025. The discussions primarily addressed Russia's aggression and its ongoing consequences.
The Council focused on the geopolitical situation in Eastern Europe and the strategic approach to ensure security and stability. Emphasis was placed on strengthening unity within the EU and supporting affected countries.
Maria Malmer Stenergard highlighted the importance of close cooperation among member states to uphold international law and protect sovereignty. She underlined the need for firm measures against violations that threaten peace.
"We must stand together and act decisively to safeguard our shared values and peace in the region," said Malmer Stenergard during the meeting.
The Council also reviewed initiatives to enhance energy security and reduce dependency on unreliable sources, aiming to increase resilience against external pressures.
