Police in Stockton, California, reported that four people were killed and ten others injured during a mass shooting at a child’s birthday celebration. According to authorities, the attack occurred late Saturday night in a residential area of the city.
City Vice Mayor Kimberly Warmsley later confirmed that the victims were attending a child’s birthday party when gunfire erupted. Officials have not yet disclosed the ages of the victims or provided further details about the suspect or motive.
"We are devastated by the loss of life and the attack on innocent families," local authorities said in a press release.
